ON-LINE SAFETY & RELIEF VALVE TESTING

As long as the hydraulic system exist, there will be always a pressure safety valves that secure the system and equipment. However, if the PSV are not calibrated and its set pressure is out of accepted value, the system and equipment will be in danger, therefore, we have to calibrate them periodically.
The TrevitestTM principle is to apply a force to the valve spindle to overcome the spring tension of the valve. This is achieved using a hydraulic power pack in conjunction with an electronic force transducer linked to a pen recorder, which traces the force applied.
TrevitestTM enables valve testing with no interruption to plant production, thus achieving considerable cost savings and operational advantages. Additionally, for safety reasons, the valve would be free to pop throughout the TrevitestTM operation, should it be an actual requirement.
TrevitestTM can be also used for cold testing. This testing enables identification of valves, which needs overhaul, if carried out immediately after the shutdown. It also keeps a footprint record of any valve performance after a complete overhauling.
Another way to cold test the PSV is by Bench Testing, which consist of a clamp unit that hold the PSV unit in place while the test is ongoing, while an external high-pressure source will pressurize the seat area to find out the current set pressure. Also, by bench testing, we can check other valve types for internal and external leaking.
